The rivival of feltmaking in Hungary has been underway for more than thirty years. Artisan's workshops and crafts workshop have embraced the special characteristics of this material. The art and craft of felting would perhaps have been forever relegated to the past and remained unknown to the general public had it not been for the work of István Vidák and his family, who undertook to disseminate and teach the tradition of feltmaking. The desire for knowledge, respect for ancient culture, and craftsmanship drove them (and drives them still) to popularize the technique of felting. Their students practice this craft nation-wide, and take it upon themselves to learn from their ancestors, to create with pleasure, for pleasure, and to teach anyone, because the lisence to create is not the privelage of a few, but the right of everyone..
